My Blog

The Beginning

This is something that has been a long time coming. While I was a senior at John Carroll in 2019 I was on a journey to publish my first book. During that time there were many things that happened (some which we’ll explore here).

However, we’ll fast forward to January 2020 when I was getting ready to publish my first book. At this time I was a 22 year old recent college graduate, I was about 6 months into my first “real job.” We had just finished up the New Year celebrations where everyone was talking about entering the roaring twenties. I was getting ready to celebrate my 23 birthday and publish my first book on top of that. To say the least I felt on top of the world.

Then…

As everyone know March 2020 brought about the shutdowns and what really felt like the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. This brought about so much change for everyone. For me I went through many personal and professional changes, that even 3 years later I am still working to figure all out. I don’t have it all set yet, but I am certainly in a much better place now than even 6 months ago.

So what?

Why am I bringing this up 3 years later? Well it will be important to understand all of this while reading some of my posts. Remember I was only 22 when I wrote my book and many of these posts were initially drafted around that same time. Not only am I a different person from that time, but the world is a very different place from that time as well. I feel it is important to keep some of those initial thoughts while adding a new perspective to it as well. Sometimes the posts will feel like 2 different people wrote it and well that’s because they were. The initial draft was written by pre-pandemic Jacob and the one actively reflecting and posting is current day me who is very different from that initial author.

As always thanks for joining me on this journey – it will be an interesting one.

At your service,

Jacob Schupp
